About Rev. Andrea "Ani" Vidrine, MSW, LCSW

Rev. Ani has been teaching yoga for 25 years and serves as a psychotherapist in private practice, interfaith minister, and spiritual director. She is currently a third-year Ph.D. student in integral & transpersonal psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies, whose first two years of research was dedicated to the study of yoga's benefits and philosophy. Rev. Ani has provided continuing education for counselors through the Louisiana Association for Spiritual, Ethical, and Religious Values in Counseling, for dietitians through the Council on Renal Nutrition, and for social workers through the National Association of Social Workers/Louisiana chapter. In her leisure time, Rev. Ani enjoys hiking, singing, and writing poetry and her blog from her porch in Church Point, LA.

About the Workshop

Content Level: Beginner

Yoga is a philosophical system that provides a holistic approach to well-being, addressing the mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of a person. In this workshop, we will explore the concept of yoga as a tool in psychotherapy, learn about yoga's efficacy in trauma-informed care, and participate in 3 practices that help to interrupt the mental commentary.


Learning Objectives:

The goal of this workshop is to introduce yoga philosophy as a tool in psychotherapy and trauma-sensitive somatic practices.

The objectives are as follows:

      1. Participants will be able to explain the meaning of the concept of yoga.
      2. Participants will be able to utilize yoga's philosophical principles in the psychotherapy setting.
      3. Participants will be able to utilize trauma-sensitive somatic practices in the psychotherapy session.
